Huntly House is located on the south side of the Canongate in Edinburgh. The Duchess of Gordon occupied a flat here in the 18th century and this is the house's most likely connection to the Gordons of Huntly, the family from which it takes its name, although some sources suggest an earlier association with the first and second Marquises of Huntly. The building was created by the amalgamation of three early 16th century houses in 1570. The house was bought by the Incorporation of Hammermen in 1647 and substantially extended by them in 1671. Huntly House is now home to the Museum of Edinburgh.
