A large craggy hill rises up before falling away into an open valley where a wide river flows. Two people walk along a long track that runs up the hill, while in the distance a few houses can be seen.

The current Mar Lodge is part of the Mar Estate and was built as a sporting lodge for the Duke and Duchess of Fife in the 1990s. There have been four Mar Lodges. The first Mar Lodge was built in 18th century but was destroyed by a flood in 1829. The second Mar Lodge was rebuilt soon after and destroyed by a fire in 1895. The third Mar Lodge was built between 1895 and 1898 and destroyed by another fire in 1991.
