Title
Dunbar Castle
Description
The remains of Dunbar Castle can be seen built around a rocky outcrop in the sea. There are various arches that look as if they are part of the sea cliff. An archway crosses the sea from the cliff towards the land. Behind this is a hill with a round tower on top of it. A footpath leads across a stone bridge that runs in front of the ruin.

Dunbar Castle was once one of the most important castles in Scotland. It played a vital defensive role in various battles against the English throughout the Middle Ages. It was extended extensively by Mary of Guise, the mother of Mary Queen of Scots. The buildings measured more than 165 feet by 210 feet. The castle was owned by Lord Bothwell the alleged kidnapper of Mary Queen of Scots. Due to the castle's association with Mary it was dismantled in 1567 by order of Parliament.
