Rosebank Cottages are situated a short distance to the south of Morrison Street, Edinburgh. They were designed in the by Alexander McGregor and built in the 1850's. McGregor had been appointed by the architect James Gowans who oversaw aspects of the project. The cottages provided a template of working class housing which was used by the Edinburgh Co-operative Building Society in various colony developments including those in Stockbridge.
