Description
Thomas White Midshipman and two guards or court officials depicted from the chest up, standing behind what appears to be a courtroom bar at the Edinburgh High Court of Justiciary.

Midshipman wears a high collar decorated with stripes, double-breasted coat with buttons down the front, and has light-colored hair. The two guards wear large bicorn hats and uniforms with white cross-belts or sashes.

The caption identifies this as "Thomas White, Midshipman, at the Bar of the high Court of Justiciary for the Murder of William Jones, Seaman on the Shore of Leith, on the 15th of June, 1814."
