Description
Above doorways with letterboxes and bell pulls in Heriot Row, Edinburgh, are semi-circular windows. Stairways with metal railings and street lights lead up to the doors from the pavement. On the upper levels of some houses are metalwork balconies. Some houses have window boxes while others have potted shrubs outside their doors.

The Stevenson family moved to this house at 17, Heriot Row in 1857. A plaque on the railings outside carries four lines from Stevenson's poem The Lamplighter.
