Silver Jubilee Visit, May 1977: Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh leave St Giles Cathedral in the state coach
Description
The Queen smiles from inside a ceremonial carriage led by white horses, and followed by a ceremonial cavalry regiment. Two footmen sit on the back of the carriage. In the background can be seen the facade of St. Giles Cathedral and the heads of some of the members of the crowd.

The Queen and members of the Royal Family spent five days in Edinburgh in May 1977 as part of her Silver Jubilee Tour. The people of Edinburgh enjoyed two public holidays during her visit, one marking Victoria Day and another special day for the Queen's Silver Jubilee. A programme of events was organised including Royal Processions through the city and fireworks on Calton Hill.
