Newbattle Abbey is located roughly 5 miles to the south of Musselburgh, close to the town of Dalkeith. The house was built in the 16th century on the site of a 12th century abbey. It was passed into public hands in 1937 by Philip Kerr, the 11th Marquess of Lothian, and now houses an adult education college.
