Horse drawn trap near Canongate Tolbooth
Description
A horse and carriage gallop down the cobbles of the High Street, Edinburgh and pass the Canongate Tolbooth. The driver is wearing a bowler hat and holding a long whip. On the other side of the road stands a horse with a flat cart stacked high with sacks. A group of women stand under the clock of the Canongate Tolbooth.

The Canongate Tolbooth, built in 1591, is the oldest remaining building in the Canongate. It was the administrative centre for the old burgh of Canongate, originally separate from Edinburgh. It is now home to the People's Story Museum.
