Photograph kindly shared by Brian Patton, a library supporter and lifelong tram enthusiast, who recorded the various phases of the construction of the tram line extension from York Place to Newhaven.

The “Trams to Newhaven” project extended the Edinburgh tram route, from the city centre to the airport, connecting Leith and Newhaven to the previous end of the tram line at York Place and provides 8 new tram stops. The construction work incorporated improvements to cycling and walking infrastructure along the route. The new section of line was opened to passengers in June 2023.
