Bonaly Tower is located immediately to the north of Bonaly, once a village outside Edinburgh, now a suburb in the south-west of the city. It was designed by William H. Playfair in 1836 for Lord Cockburn. D. O. Hill and Robert Adamson were regular guests of Lord Cockburn at Bonaly.
