A group of men in flat caps sit on the window frame of Thomas Lynch, spirit & wine merchants on South Richmond Street, Edinburgh. To its left at no.3 is L Robertson, butchers which has white sheets attached to the walls of the entrance in to the shop. Above the shops stand stone tenement buildings with many windows. A man and woman are hanging out of one of the windows looking down at the cobbled street below.
