Cast of the skull of Robert Burns. The cast was taken when the body of Jean Armour was interred beside her husband's remains in the Burns Mausoleum, Dumfries, 1834.

The skull is made of plaster of Paris, was taken on 31st March 1834. The cast was taken under the supervision of Archibald Blacklock, a surgeon who noted in a description dated Dumfries, 1st April 1834, that "nothing could exceed the high state of preservation in which we found the bones of the cranium, or offer a fairer opportunity of supplying what has so long been desiderated by phrenologists, a correct model of our immortal poet's head."
