Sketching the City
To complement the amazing large-scale Sketchnthecity cityscape of Edinburgh currently on display in Central Library, this exhibition showcases views of the sketch alongside historical drawings from our collections.

The Greater Grassmarket BID teamed up with graphic artist Johnny Dodds to explore Edinburgh's extraordinary history through a series of artworks that combine old photos from the collections of Edinburgh Libraries.

Edinburgh Photographic Society was established in 1899. Over the early years of the 20th century the society created a collection of photographs of streets and buildings of Edinburgh. This collection is their survey of the George Square Ward.

This exhibition celebrates the architecture and town planning of James Craig's original design taking in views of Princes Street, George Street, and Queen Street, St Andrew Square to the east and Charlotte Square to the west.
