The Royals in Edinburgh
This exhibition of images and objects from the collections of Edinburgh City Libraries and Edinburgh Museums and Galleries celebrates the Royal Family's many official visits to Edinburgh dating back to the early 20th century and includes souvenirs from momentous events in their lives.

The pictures show city streets and buildings festooned in decorations and bunting to welcome kings and queens to Edinburgh and crowds thronging the streets to catch a glimpse of their monarch. There are some lovely pictures of a community in Gorgie celebrating the Queen's Coronation in 1953 with a street party and dancing. There are also earlier images of the Queen, when as Princess Elizabeth, she visited the city with her parents in September 1945 to celebrate the victorious end of World War Two.

The memorabilia includes labels from beer specially brewed to commemorate the Queen's Coronation and some tongue-in-cheek pages from a children's activity book called the Princess Diana Paper Doll Book of Fashion.
